Sarawak, Indonesia recorded external trade of RM1.491 bln last year
MIRI: Sarawak and Indonesia recorded external trade totalling RM1.491 billion last year.
Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia Jahar Gultom said in 2016 Sarawak imported goods worth RM928 million from Indonesia, while the state exported goods worth RM563 million to Indonesia.
“We are now doing intensive promotion to draw more Sarawakians to take part in the 32nd Trade Expo Indonesia to be held at Ice-BSD City Banten on October 11 to 15, 2017,” he said during a networking dinner and introduction on Tuesday.
Jahar said in 2015, visitors from Indonesia to Sarawak stood at 505,000, while around 35,000 visitors from Sarawak went to Indonesia.
On the 31st Trade Expo Indonesia last year, Jahar said Malaysia had the biggest delegation consisting 546 delegates, with 107 coming from Sarawak, who were led by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said transactions in cash by the Sarawak delegation during the expo reached about RM40,000.
